Fire Rating June 2 2017

Fire Rating Extreme

Well less then 24 hrs we are now at an EXTREME Rating from a HIGH rating. This is a level 5 rating out of a scale of 5 so next would be a Back Country Travel Restrictions if conditions continue to this dry. Today the temperature was 33C with a humidity level of 26 % , this is called a flash over where the humidity is lower then the air temperature . Fires can occur very , very easily so PLEASE, PLEASE use EXTREME caution if you need to be in the back country. PLEASE check your exhaust frequently , carry a fire extinguisher , axe, shovel, and if at all possible PLEASE don’t play in the mud with tall grass or peat moos etc. We really don’t need to see another major fire out our way , and people do live and work here as well , so loss of their livelihoods would be devastating. They are now forecasting hot dry weather for the next several days so I would anticipate some sort of Travel Restrictions to be handed down.

Please be careful folks.
